Bradley Porter
Research Analyst

Bradley S. Porter is a Research Analyst for the Applied Research Center.  He received his MA in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Florida International University, where he conducted research on traditional and alternative energy developments in the Western Hemisphere, with a particular focus on the Brazilian oil company Petrobras.  He has studied in Costa Rica and Brazil, worked in East Africa, and completed internships with both the U.S. Southern Command and AES Panamá, a hydro-electric power generator and subsidiary of AES Corporation.


Erich de la Fuente
Research Analyst

Erich de la Fuente is a Research Scientist at ARC/FIU. He is an expert on strategic communications and public affairs and has led proactive international public awareness campaigns, developed crisis management plans, designed comprehensive communication strategies and internal communications programs in several countries.  He has also been a lead communications consultant for a variety of anti-corruption, good governance and rule-of-law projects in various countries around the world, including Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Colombia, El Salvador, Paraguay, Jordan, and Rwanda. Mr. de la Fuente holds a MA in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.). He is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, and proficient in Russian.


Gina Moreno
Graduate Research Assistant

Gina Andrea Moreno is a Research Assistant at the Florida international University’s Applied Research Center. She was born and raised in Colombia, where she attended Law School at the Externado University of Colombia. Ms. Moreno graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelors Degree in International Relations. She is currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in National Security Studies. Her role as a Research Assistant with the Western Hemispheric Security Analysis Center (WHEMSAC) as well as her travel experiences to Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Panamá, and Peru have encouraged her to deepen her study of the Latin American and Caribbean region, through a Masters of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Ms. Moreno has successfully completed an internship program with the Colombian Consulate in Miami, Florida.

Pamela Pamelá
Graduate Research Assistant

Pamela Pamelá is a Research Assistant at Florida International University’s Applied Research Center. She holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a second Bachelor’s of International Relations (2010) with a certificate in Latin American Studies. She has participated in two study abroad programs during her undergraduate work at Florida International University; one language program in France and the second in Argentina for studies in Political Science and International Relations. She will pursue a Master’s degree in International Relations in the upcoming year.Born in Venezuela, Pamela migrated to the United States in 1998. 


Michael Fernandez
Undergraduate Research Assistant

Michael Fernandez is an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Florida International University’s Applied Research Center. His principle responsibilities are to explore research topics and support event coordination within the FIU-SOUTHCOM Academic Partnership. He is expected to graduate during the spring of 2010. He is pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Relations, with a concentration in Middle East and Islamic studies. He is also pursuing a  minor in both Psychology and Philosophy. Upon graduation, Michael Fernandez will be pursuing a Juris Doctor degree.


Stephanie Sierra
Undergraduate Research Assistant

Stephanie Sierra is an undergraduate at Florida International University, where she is expecting to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in Spring 2013. Upon receiving her degree, she will pursue a masters in a related field. Ms. Sierra's duties include working with the budget for FIU-ARC, WHEMSAC and other related projects; assisting with event coordination; and providing additional administrative support.
